About Get Knitting

I've been knitting for as long as I can remember.

My mum taught me to hand knit before I'd even started school and my first attempts, probably like everyone else, were scarves for my dolls.

It was the colours and textures of the yarns that first attracted me to knitting. I loved the way they could be mixed together to make something totally unique.

When I was about 9 or 10, I went round to a friend's house to play. I'd not been to her house before and became fascinated by this large machine sitting in the corner surrounded by multi-coloured cones of yarn.

So began my love of the knitting machine!

For me, hand knitting and machine knitting have always been two different sides of the same coin. Alone, they both produce beautiful fabrics but the different techniques in each of them can be combined to create stunning effects - one complementing the other.
